Living in the Pacific Northwest almost all of my life, you would think I have explored more of the region. I achieved two things at once, went somewhere I have always wanted to go, and it was also on my bucket list..
It starts out at what is called the Devil's churn, a lot of photo opportunities there with stairs that take you down to the beach and rocks below. (I wasn't daring enough to do that so I stuck to the stone railing that was there). Once done there I asked how do you get to the "stone house" I am not sure if that is what it is called but I went with it. The person asked, "do you want to hike or drive?" Me not being in the greatest of shape said, "drive" so she said, "when leaving go to the next left and stay to the left at the fork and follow all the way to the top. Let me tell you there is no way in the heck I would have made it walking.. I didn't even know if the car was going to make it, but once to the top and a little hike this is the view that awaited me...
I was in awe of the beauty, when they say that photographs don't do it justice, they are so right. Going further down the path which winds along in the trees is very calming, you can hear the wind rustling the tops and the ocean below. The sounds are perfect.
Still walking around the path this is what I was waiting for, the moment of excitement felt like I was a kid in a candy store going around the corner and seeing this...
I know it's just a stone "house"or "shelter" but to me it was more, it was something I have wanted to see for a long time. You can walk thru and there is a bench inside to take a rest and listen to the ocean or watch the birds fly by. In my case it was taking photographs galore.
On the way back down we seen a coast guard helicopter fly by if that gives you any indication of how high we were.
Added bonus when on the way back home after getting something to eat there was the bridge, stopping to take other photographs I noticed this and for me, it was the ending of the most perfect day because I love to take photographs of interesting things and this to me was interesting because you don't see it everyday and wouldn't expect it to be on a bridge...
